Your search experience using Google is set to become a lot more social as the engine integrates Google+ further into its search results.
Search, Plus Your World will combine traditional organic and paid search listings alongside more personalised results including photos and updates from Google + profiles or pages.
You can read more about this update when you read Google’s Amit Singhalin’s blog post here.
In summary the three big features which look set to be added to search results are:
- Personalised Results – Find things which are just relevant to you by searching Google+ pages and profiles – this will include your own profile and profiles you are connected with
- Profiles featuring in search results – Google+ profiles are already starting to appear as search results, helping you to find people you are already connected with or you may be interested in connecting with in the future.
- People and Pages – an easier search experience when searching for people you are already connected with (filtering out the thousands you are not but whom share the same name as your connection). Pages of interest are also easier to find and you are able to connect with these people and brands in far fewer steps. Not only will you discover the names behind these profiles but also a wider, interested community who are also searching and commenting on the same things as you. Want to join in the conversation? Not a problem; social search makes this easy.
But do you think this will affect your search experience? With the web becoming a far more transparent community are you happy to share your information with others or do you prefer a more annonymous, private online experience?
