Mobile advertising can be a very effective way to promote your business. We’re constantly using our smartphones and tablets to browse the internet, use social media and even shop, so when you can use these tools to target your market, your ads will be seen by potential customers.

Advertising for mobile is much like regular online advertising, but there are a few things you can keep in mind to make your ads more effective and get better results.

Less is More

In general, ads that aren’t copy heavy are more effective because they grab attention and people are more likely to read them. This is especially true for mobile ads, when people are seeing them while they are on the go and on a small screen.

Keep things short and simple so people will be more likely to read your copy and click on your ads. One good way to do this is to stick with the most essential information and the call to action.

Design Should be Basic

On small screens, you don’t have much room to experiment with design. In fact, if you use busy or large designs, you risk overpowering your message and causing people to simply scroll past your ads.

Use simple lines and graphics and choose colours that speak to your brand but that aren’t overpowering. You do want to get people’s attention, but you can do that with simple, clean designs.

Use Responsive Design

Make sure your ads are responsive so they will work and look great on multiple devices. If they don’t, they won’t be very effective. Things like the design, text, calls to action and elements like buttons and links need to be easy to see and read so they will get peoples’ attention and so they can respond to them.

Remember that this holds true for the pages your ads link to. For example, if your ad links to a product page, that page also needs to be responsive for mobile devices so visitors can browse and buy products easily. Websites that are too hard to read and use will drive visitors and potential customers away.

Consider Apps

Mobile apps bring lots of advertising opportunities. If you have something of value to offer through an app, consider creating one for your business and using it as a marketing tool. If you go this route, make sure the app is something that will appeal to your target market and is well made so it will bring benefits.

You can also use apps for mobile advertising by placing ads on social media or partnering with an app that people in your market use. For example, you could advertise your garden services on a home improvement app or a magazine app for home improvement and landscaping publications.

Use Geotargeting

Geotargeting is the way of the future. Targeting your ads based on location, or even the location a person is in when using his cellphone, can help you specifically reach people who are more likely to visit your stores because they are nearby. This strategy can be used in a variety of ways to help you reach the people that are most likely to respond to your ads.

Mobile ads are a great tactic to add to your internet marketing strategy and can help you promote your business. Getting your messages, products and brand right in the palm of peoples’ hands is a very effective way to reach potential customers and encourage them to take action.
