Since my last post I have been spending a lot of time working on the social media marketing side of things and I’ve been amazed by the impact the Facebook has had in the social media marketing world. I have quickly realised that Facebook is no longer a virtual community for University students to share information with friends. This social network has rapidly evolved into a networking platform for individuals as well as businesses to share information however trivial or vital.
I was amazed to discover that according to thenextweb.com that Facebook alone has supported 35,200 jobs and contributed £2.2bn to the UK’s GDP, and £127 billion across the whole EU – and yet here I am, an employee of a Digital Marketing Agency employed to work specifically on this social media platform! So I am evidence that Facebook is indeed creating employment in Yorkshire right now!
Facebook is ramping up its efforts to position itself as a serious advertising platform for businesses and here at Bigfoot Digital we are busy managing PPC campaigns for a range of clients who are keen to grab a piece of the social action.
According the recent The Next Web article on the subject, the CEO at Facebook has announced up to £4.2 million worth of advertising credits for EU firms, and the Europe-focussed “Ad Boost” programme aims to reach 50,000 small businesses across the UK, France, Germany, Spain and Italy. The programme is designed to act as a “carrot-on-a-stick” for companies that have yet to advertise on Facebook.
To encourage small businesses to participate in the Ad boost programme, Facebook has announced that a series of road shows will be held across the UK over the next six months which will run in conjunction with the British Chambers of commerce. As a social media apprentice I am really excited to hear this news; Bigfoot Digital is a member of the Barnsley and Rotherham Chamber of Commerce so my next task is to find out when this road show is coming to our area. This is a date for my diary that I am not going to miss!
