Having a large social media following and great online engagement are excellent marketing assets. However, you can get even more out of your social media accounts if you can lure visitors from your accounts to your website, where they can become customers, follow your blog, subscribe to your newsletter or complete any other call to action.
This is easier said than done and does take time and concerted effort. But, there are a few things you can start doing now to increase social media referrals to your site.
1 – Don’t Share it All
If you share your content in its entirety on social media, people won’t have a reason to visit your website. Share snippets or excerpts from blog posts and articles and give examples of the kinds of resources people can find on your website.
Most social networks make this easy to do when you copy and paste a link to your account. Sometimes they will automatically include the first few lines of content and a picture. Knowing this, make sure your content is interesting from the very beginning and includes interesting and professional images.
2 – Use an Enticing Incentive
Another way you can give people a reason to visit your site is by providing an enticing incentive. Sometimes people need an extra push to get from your Facebook or Twitter post to your website.
Directing people to your website for coupons, sales, giveaways, contests, free samples or to enter their email address to get updates on their favourite products can be enough to attract some clicks.
3 – Make it Easy
Don’t make it hard for people to get to your website. If social media followers can’t find what they are looking for, find the right links or even if your site is hard to navigate, they won’t bother using your website.
Include plenty of links in your posts and in your “about” section or biography. Then, make sure your site is easy to use. This includes using a clear navigation, clean layout and design and logical links. Also remember to make your calls to action easy to follow through with. If you ask people to sign up for your email list, don’t make them hunt all over your site for the right form.
4 – Consistently Show Value
To get a constant flow of traffic from your social media accounts to your website, you need to show value on a regular basis. All of your posts need to be interesting and relevant to your market and should show off what you have to offer through social media and your website.
Only post high-quality content and always have something to say so you can avoid looking spammy and overwhelming or annoying your social media followers. As you continually prove that you offer value to your market, people will be more likely to visit your website.
When you use your social media accounts to build a community and then encourage people to visit your site, you can convert followers into customers and loyal fans. Start the process by updating your accounts and using these tips.
