If you didn’t have a strategy when you started your blog, determine now what benefit you hope to gain with your blog. Are you looking for a way to connect with your customers? Maybe you want to share company news? Or, maybe you want to use your blog to sell your products?
There are so many reasons to have a blog, but whatever your reason make sure you have a strategic plan in place that will help ensure that your blog helps you meet your marketing goals. For example, if your goal is to sell your products, your content and the way you use your blog should reflect that.
A Content Calendar
A content calendar can be your most powerful tool for your blog. Some companies create calendars for a month in advance while others plan as far as six months to a year in advance. Your calendar can be as simple as a list of dates and blog topics or you can include keywords and titles or even schedule monthly themes or a series of related posts.
Creating a content calendar will make it easier to blog consistently. If you have a schedule and then work to stick to it, you’ll be more likely to update your blog regularly. Just keep in mind that you may want to write about current events or industry news as it develops, so leave some flexibility to allow for these kinds of posts.
Social Media Buttons
From its beginnings, your blog needs social media sharing buttons. You can include some buttons on your sidebar or header that will let your readers connect to your social media accounts. This will let you keep in touch with your readers and use social media to notify them of new posts.
Also include social media buttons at the end of every blog post. Making it easy for your readers to share your content can help you build a social media presence, build links to your site and attract more traffic.
